INCOTERM 2020

Business Strategy

Overview

The shipping industry is prone to mistakes and challenges that can lead to issues such as shipping coordinators making errors, exporters facing complaints and compensation claims, uncompetitive export costs, and products arriving damaged or with discrepancies. These problems can harm customer relationships, result in wastage, and impact profitability.

To overcome these challenges and enhance your expertise in international trade, it is crucial to master the Incoterms® rules. These rules have become a universal language of trade, utilized in contracts worldwide. They offer valuable guidance to importers, exporters, lawyers, transporters, insurers, and students of international trade.

The Incoterms® cover various shipping terms for different modes of transportation (land, air, sea) in international trade transactions. The recent update to the Incoterms® rules is extensive, practical, and brings significant changes. These changes will profoundly affect trade documentation for exporters, importers, traders, bankers, insurers, freight forwarders, and carriers, with critical implications for their businesses. By understanding and incorporating these new rules into sales contracts, you can eliminate uncertainties, errors, and costly misinterpretations that commonly occur in trade transactions.

One significant update in Incoterms® 2020 is the alignment of insurance coverage levels in Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF) and Carriage and Insurance Paid To (CIP). Furthermore, Incoterms® 2020 introduces provisions for carriage with own means of transport in FCA, Delivered at Place (DAP), Delivered at Place Unloaded (DPU), and Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).

Join us and learn from industry experts who will guide you on the appropriate Incoterms® rules to improve customer relationships, reduce waste, eliminate discrepancies, and maximize profitability. Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex world of international trade with confidence and precision.
